Placenta Burial & Tree Planting Ceremony

A very well known tradition of honoring the placenta, baby, pregnancy, and birth in many cultures is a placenta burial ceremony. This is a way for the family to show their gratitude and love to the placenta for nourishing and nurturing their child in the womb. Either all or part of the placenta can be buried. So, when preparing for your placenta encapsulation, you can choose a piece of your placenta for you to bury, if you desire to. I will preserve it with herbs and enshroud it in a cloth for you if desired.

The tradition of planting a tree over the buried placenta is also common. A tree that flowers, blooms, or produces fruit during the child’s birth month or holds another significance to the child or family is often chosen. I can offer advice on types of trees and planting location if desired.

As a Spiritual Director and Peaceful Motherhood Mentor I greatly enjoy assisting families in preparing and conducting the burial ceremony if they desire. I will assist in the planning of the ceremony, choosing prayers and blessings to be read, the choosing of a tree to plant if one is desired, and conducting the ceremony and blessing if desired.
