Placenta Preparation & Encapsulation Service

As a Certified Placenta Preparation Specialist following Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques, with a State of Texas approved Food Handlers and Safety Certification and OSHA-Certification in Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Prevention Training, Leigh Anne provides a quality, safe, and beneficial service to postpartum mothers.

Due to Federal and Texas State laws the process of placenta preparation and/or encapsulation is done in the client’s home. This, also, ensures the client that they are receiving their placenta, as well as, knowing that the process was done following OSHA, FDA, and food safety and handling procedures.

So, the placenta encapsulation process is an in-home process. Leigh Anne comes to the client’s house as soon after birth as possible, usually around a day or so after the birth, to start working with the placenta.

It takes 2 visits over 2 days, each visit about 1.5 to 2 hours long, and the placenta is left to dehydrate between the two visits, you have the capsules and can start taking them at the end of the 2nd visit.

Currently using size “O” vegetarian capsules, an average sized placenta, typically, yields between 100 – 120 capsules. It is rather difficult to judge just by looking at the placenta about how many capsules you will get, but 100 – 120 for a whole placenta is the most common.

All clients are given detailed instructions, once the encapsulation process is complete, on the proper dosages for taking the capsules, proper care of the capsules, and most importantly when you should not take the capsules. Leigh Anne also provides continued counseling on how and when to take the capsules for all clients, after the completion of the process, to work through any potential issues that may arise; like over-production of milk, mastitis, colds, flu, etc..

Leigh Anne has everything needed for the process. All that is needed from the client is the placenta, kitchen, cleared both sides of the sink, some cleared counter space for working, the trash can, and one burner on the stove for about 30 minutes on the first visit.

The proper way to get your placenta after birth will vary depending on your birth location. All of Leigh Anne’s clients are givenĀ  a “Plan for Success” guide that prepares them on how to properly receive, transport, and care for their placenta for the encapsulation process.

All clients are, also, given a legally written hospital liability release form that can be use with the hospital in the event that it is needed.

Once things have settled down a bit, a few hours or so, after birth someone should call Leigh Anne at 214-531-4346 to schedule her first visit to start the preparation process. Leigh Anne usually does the first visit in the evening, leaves the placenta to dehydrate overnight, and completes the process sometime the next day.

A very special Umbilical Cord Heart/Spiral Keepsake Gift is given to each mother, if the umbilical cord was still attached to, or with, the placenta at the time of preparation.

All clients who are breastfeeding may request to receive complimentary breastfeeding support from Leigh Anne, who is a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and Counselor, while she is at your home during the encapsulation process.

All clients will, also, receive a resource list of postpartum support resources that includes postpartum doulas, counselors, therapists, psychologists, postpartum support groups, post traumatic birth recovery support groups, post cesarean support groups, and parenting/moms groups.

A resource list of chiropractors, and MDs or DOs that are natural health and non-vaccination friendly general practitioners or pediatricians will be made available to clients upon request.

As a maternal, postpartum, lactation, and pediatric nutritionist, Leigh Anne will also offer complimentary services in nutrition at the client’s request while she is at the client’s home during the encapsulation process.

If you would like continued breastfeeding support, post traumatic birth recovery, post cesarean recovery, or nutrition services with Leigh Anne please inquire with her at that time for pricing and scheduling.
